Anna's teaching philosophy and style centers around the belief that her role as a teacher is not to be the “sage on the stage,” dispassionately imparting wisdom at a distance. Rather, she strives to reimagine her classroom as a collaborative laboratory, where both teacher and students are actively engaged in a learning community.

She does this by engaging in experiential and active learning, including:
  • Field trips to local incubators
  • Customer discovery and design thinking simulations
  • User experience interviews
  • Crowdfunding evaluations
  • Business model experiments
  • Open-sourced practice exams
This was the best course I have ever taken at Penn State. It made me completely change my career path, and Professor Roberts is 100% to thank for that. Professor Roberts is someone who not only teaches her students the material but encourages them to be the best version of themselves. She teaches in a way that excites students, encourages them, motivates them, and forces them to learn. Classes involved a ton of engagement from both teacher and students and always was sure to get students thinking outside of the box. One of my favorite classes that I have taken at Penn State, and one of my favorite teachers. All I can say is thank you!
